The rand was slightly weaker, but within tight ranges in cautious trade on Tuesday morning, as the euro clawed back some gains against the dollar.The market is awaiting the outcome of key risk events this week and has been range-bound between R14/$ and R14.08/$."The rand has held steady, this against a back drop of the Reserve Bank monetary policy committee decision on interest rates on Thursday and the ratings agency reviews on Friday," analysts at Nedbank Corporate and Investment Banking said.The rand had done well, while the Turkish lira came under sustained pressure on Monday, and the morning session in the Far East had been particularly quiet, Nedbank said.At 8.43am the rand was at R14.0740 to the dollar from R14.0438, at R16.5241 to the euro from R16.4766 and at R18.6473 to the pound from R18.5810.The euro was at $1.1741 from $1.1732.The euro, which the rand usually tracks, was under pressure after the collapse of German coalition talks at the weekend.
