THERE I was in 2010, on my first trip to Delhi, India. The blatant disregard for traffic laws in the city was really eye-opening and even before I got behind the wheel of a car I knew that things were going to be interesting.I was there for the launch of the first generation Ford Figo which, of course, was not really a first generation as it was essentially a repackaged, previous generation Fiesta with which Ford planned to take on the likes of the Volkswagen Polo Vivo. This it did really well in spite of the fact that it was built and imported into SA from India. It proved to be an honest, no-nonsense entry-level hatchback that drove remarkably well. The fact that it had a fairly affordable sticker price was another feather in its cap.At the end of last year, the latest Figo was ushered in and, while it is bigger and slightly more upmarket than its predecessor, it still has an old-school feel about it.
