Tongaat Hulett to develop KwaZulu-Natal retirement estates
Tongaat Hulett plans to develop extensive retirement estates in KwaZulu-Natal, saying the province offers better value than that offered by many developments in the Western Cape, SA’s most popular retirement destination. Tongaat Hulett Developments will create retirement opportunities stretching from the "Upper Highway" area to Umhlanga and the North Coast. Details about these developments would be released in the coming months in a campaign called Retire KZN. "Tongaat Hulett has a substantial land portfolio from its ongoing activities in agriculture that incorporates around 8,000ha of land within the primary growth corridors of KwaZulu-Natal," the company said. Research by Lightstone has shown that far more people aged over 65 buy properties in Cape Town than in Durban.
