THE first results in this year’s local government election were announced at 9pm on Wednesday night.Local elections 2016News, live results and much moreA voting district in ward six in the Great Kei municipality in the Eastern Cape was being led by the Democratic Alliance with 45.45%. In second was the African National Congress with 31.82%. An Independent candidate had 22.73%.It was one of five voting districts in the ward.Results would continue to come in through the night.IEC chairman Glen Mashinini announced the first results to applause.
