The ANC and government have clearly been a role model for many companies in SA. The latest statistic is Steinhoff, which has simulated the government with smoke-and-mirrors chicanery and creative accounting. It may even have outdone the government. The difference is that the Steinhoff CEO resigned, whereas the leader of our government continues to cling to power, as is the norm in African politics. The irony is the ANC and the government are now calling for criminal charges against the entire board of Steinhoff. The media is ablaze with the forthcoming ANC elective conference, as if it matters who is elected. Entities such as KPMG, McKinsey, Bell Pottinger and Steinhoff procreated as a result of ANC and government malefaction. And before the next election, it is likely that more improprieties will be exposed. Politically, the ANC is a spent force and will in due course suffer the consequences of its dysfunctional politics.
