Either ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe is not in the loop about what is transpiring in the upper echelons of the party, or he is blasé with what the truth is. He informed the media that there was no chance Brian Molefe would become an MP. Going with the former, Mantashe obviously hasn’t as yet connected the dots — the chief requirements of an ANC MP are, one, you must be a Zuma bootlicker and, two, be willing to take orders from the Guptas. It’s crystal clear that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan is neither. Let’s not then be too surprised if there is a Cabinet reshuffle and Molefe becomes finance minister. He has the attributes, including direct contact with the Guptas. Who cares about the rand crashing, the economy in a nose-dive and a ratings downgrade now almost unavoidable. Zuma and his pals’ wellbeing is all-important. What a mess! More proof: the current water and sanitation minister was useless as an ANC provincial leader — and so was promoted to Cabinet.
