Lessons on trading from the New York subway
Hany Saad provides an insightful study of trading and the New York subway, writes Michel Pireu
Some time ago Hany Saad wrote a piece at Daily Speculations in which he compared travelling on the New York subway with trading the market. "Knowing that the previous two stops to mine have only two sets of stairs closer to the front end of the train," he began, "I started walking to the opposite end thinking that most people will go for the closer compartments. Oddly enough the farthest compartment is always packed. My reasoning is that most people play the same game I do. "Three cars away from the end seems to be the optimum solution. [But] sometimes I’m still not lucky enough to get a seat unless one of the passengers gets off. [So] I start analysing the passengers’ profiles trying to figure out which ones are likely to get off the train first.
