It has been a while since there were serious upsets at Judicial Service Commission (JSC) interviews, and this time there were two. I was not expecting them. I had even told a fellow reporter there would be no drama this time round. Wrong again.The first big upset was when the interviews for the Constitutional Court were derailed after a complaint was laid against one candidate, Supreme Court of Appeal Judge Ronnie Bosielo. The complaint was made right on the eve of the interviews, and it felt like a bit of an ambush.It was such a convoluted complaint as well — royal faction fighting, a black economic empowerment deal and arson. But amid all the intrigue there was a serious allegation: that Bosielo had been inappropriately involved in brokering an empowerment deal and that he was benefiting financially.Judges are not supposed to be up to their ears in business transactions, and their financial interests have to be declared.
