THE Treasury will meet student representatives this week to discuss students’ ideas on university funding and how subsidies for poorer students might be increased but it has warned of the budget constraints it faced. Universities remained tense countrywide on Tuesday as students continued with protests. Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan said on Monday that the Treasury had seen the students’ calculations and the Treasury would start engaging with them: "We might see something we haven’t thought of in terms of opportunities to find the money."
