President Jacob Zuma has appointed an inter-ministerial committee (IMC) that will plan and co-ordinate the "centenary commemoration" of Nelson Mandela that will take place next year. Mandela would have turned 100 years old on July 18 2018. He died on December 5 2013‚ at the age of 95. The presidency said the IMC would co-ordinate the country’s commemoration programme "to ensure that the legacy and heritage of the great statesman is celebrated in a befitting manner in 2018".
