Manyi’s sudden resignation from the BBC was ‘triggered by growing pressure that the organisation was associated with the politically connected Guptas’
Growing public perceptions that the Black Business Council (BBC) may be aligned to the Gupta family because Mzwanele Manyi served as one of its office-bearers led to his shock resignation from the lobby group. Two independent sources confirmed to Business Day on Tuesday that Manyi’s sudden resignation from the BBC had been triggered by growing pressure on the organisation that it was associated with the politically connected family. However, Manyi told Business Day on Tuesday that he was no longer a BBC office-bearer and it would be remiss of him to comment on its affairs. He has also rubbished reports that he is connected to the Gupta family.BBC president Danisa Baloyi and general secretary George Sebulela both said the group’s office-bearers had met on Monday morning, when they discussed and noted Manyi’s resignation from the lobby group.
