Signs were that the High Court in Pretoria would order the immediate release of the highly anticipated state capture report, after the judges adjourned proceedings on Wednesday to allow the parties to draft an order on the “uncontested aspects” of the case. This followed the dramatic U-turn by President Jacob Zuma earlier, when he withdrew his interdict application to prevent the release of the report. The report was the result of an investigation by former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela into whether there was an innapropriate relationship between the president, other state officials and the Gupta family. Zuma, Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Des van Rooyen and Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane were implicated in the investigation. The terms of the order were expected to reveal whether Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane would be compelled to release the report on Wednesday.
