THE Office of the ANC Chief Whip on Thursday said outgoing Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has "undoubtedly infused renewed energy on this critical Chapter 9 institution".The praise for the Public Protector came as something of a surprise, given that Madonsela had butted heads with the ANC caucus in parliament, led by former chief whip Mathole Motshekga, especially over the Nkandla debacle, and over her requests for more funding to grow her office.But, now under Jackson Mthembu, the chief whip’s office on Thursday also congratulated "advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane for her appointment to the position of the Public Protector of South Africa by President Jacob Zuma"‚ saying she "was recommended for appointment by the National Assembly … following a gruelling‚ open and transparent process"."We congratulate her and wish her well in her new responsibilities‚" a statement said.The office said it "salutes" Madonsela "for her sterling and laudable job since her appointment in 2009"."She has un...
