The South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa) has received its first instalment of R1.7m, for the reaction chambers the energy company is manufacturing for the Russian government.The energy company is in a contract with Rosatom — the Russian state-owned company embarking on a number of nuclear projects around the world — to build these components of nuclear reactors.It is estimated the contract is worth about R5.1m.However, according to Necsa spokesperson Carol van Niekerk, there is some flexibility about the total number of reaction chambers being manufactured.According to Nesca, reaction chambers are about the size of a large office desk.
