York — The Knavesmire — where they hanged the outlaw Dick Turpin three centuries ago — is gearing up for its famous Ebor Festival where some of the best horses in Europe will be in action. The four days of the festival gets under way on Wednesday and the star attraction comes on Thursday, when the unbeaten filly Enable, to be ridden by Frankie Dettori, runs in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks. Bookies quote the inmate of John Gosden’s powerful stable between 2-7 and 1-4. The filly is also 5-4 favourite for the Qatar Arc de Triomphe on October 1. Sir Michael Stoute has won the Yorkshire Oaks nine times and has confirmed he will run both Queen’s Trust and Abingdon against Enable in the grade1 race.
