Land expropriation, tax matters and the dynamics of the private healthcare market will be some of the highlights of this week. It kicks off on Monday with the continuation of hearings by the joint constitutional review committee into section 25 of the Constitution, with one delegation of the committee sitting in Mpumalanga and the other in the Free State. The hearings will last for three days. The committee is probing whether it is necessary to change the Constitution to allow for the expropriation of land without compensation in the public interest. Hearings are being held throughout the country to hear the views of interested parties. Revenue targets Also on Monday Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene and South African Revenue Service commissioner Mark Kingon will host an event in Alberton to mark the opening of the tax season for 2018.
