EFF councillors in Mogale City "who voted to take the people’s money into the hands of the ANC" will face disciplinary action. The EFF caucus supported a budget tabled by new ANC mayor Patrick Lipudi in the small West Rand municipality on Tuesday, defying the EFF resolution that it would never vote with the ANC. The move to pass the budget also saved Mogale City from being put under possible administration. The coalition in Mogale City has been in turmoil since former DA mayor Michael Holenstein was ousted in a vote of no confidence conducted by secret ballot. Holenstein’s removal saw the coalition of the DA, Freedom Front Plus and the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), with the EFF as voting partner, lose the executive seat to the ANC.
