LETTER: Peter Bruce is wrong about voting
How can anyone who knows anything about politics think that by voting for the ANC, you are showing your support for Ramaphosa?
I never cease to be amazed by the stupidity of people who should be well informed and have insight into politics, such as the likes of Peter Bruce. How can anyone who knows anything about politics think that by voting for the ANC, you are showing your support for Cyril Ramaphosa? A vote for the ANC is showing support for the ANC — nothing more, nothing less. Ramaphosa may lead the ANC (at present) but he doesn’t control it. The ANC is controlled by its six-member national executive committee (NEC), as it is a Stalinist party. The NEC can remove Ramaphosa as president with the stroke of a pen — just ask Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma. The more votes the ANC gets, the more seats it has in parliament. Those ANC MPs don’t vote according to their consciences but according to the directives from Luthuli House. Just look at the votes of “no confidence” in Zuma.
