The Helen Suzman Foundation and Freedom Under Law contend President Jacob Zuma has not said when it will be decided whether to suspend national prosecutions chief Shaun Abrahams. The organisations said this in their replying affidavit and heads of argument in their application to compel Zuma to suspend Abrahams and two other senior prosecutors‚ pending an inquiry into their fitness to hold office. The organisations said these suspensions and inquiries became necessary as a result of the circumstances in which trumped-up criminal charges were brought against Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and then withdrawn. According to the two bodies, these actions had disastrous consequences for the administration of justice and the economy.
