There was a time when labour rates were top of mind when taking a vehicle in for a service. Today many of the car companies provide a service or maintenance plan, which removes the shock factor for owners when they collect their car from a service. However, there are still a vast number of vehicles on our roads that either never had a service plan or their plan has expired. So it remains vital that people know what they might be in for when it comes to getting their car serviced or repaired. Lightstone Consumer embarked on an independent study among the dealerships of all major automotive manufacturers in SA to determine the current labour rates charged at dealership level. It conducted telephonic interviews with service managers recording the labour rates, excluding VAT.
