SOUTH Africa’s second-largest private hospital company, Life Healthcare, intends to expand more aggressively abroad, having already invested in India and Poland.Life Healthcare joined the JSE Top 40 on Monday after the bourse changed the criteria that companies would need to meet to enter the index."The expansion of our footprint internationally is through a 46.25% investment in Max Healthcare, a leading hospital group in northern India, which offers 2,300 beds through 12 facilities," CEO André Meyer said on Tuesday."Our strategy is to look for expansion opportunities internationally, where we believe we can add value and we will remain focused on our Polish business, Scanmed SA, which is a specialist provider of a broad range of healthcare services, including primary healthcare to some 130,000 people, 43 clinics offering a broad range of outpatient and inpatient services including 12 cardiac facilities," he said.Though Life Healthcare has invested in India and Poland, the group sti...
