The ANC is forcing its MPs to put President Jacob Zuma before the country by insisting that they do not vote against him in the motion of no confidence, party veteran Trevor Fowler said on Thursday. "In effect what is being asked of MPs is to decide between SA and the president. Decide between the national democratic revolution and the president," he told the South African Communist Party’s (SACP’s) 14th congress. "How does the NEC [national executive committee] allow MPs to be put into that unenviable position — decide between your party and president and the people of SA and the Constitution." Parliament’s debate and vote on a motion of no confidence in Zuma will take place on August 8.
