THIS may be the most politically significant week SA will experience for the rest of the year. With the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) set to hold a media conference on Monday morning, speculation is rife of an imminent announcement on the criminal charges against Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, former SARS Commissioner Oupa Magashula and former deputy commissioner Ivan Pillay and whether they will be dropped ahead of their first appearance in court on Wednesday. It will also be a week in which SA will witness just how far the tide has turned against President Jacob Zuma as protesters — consisting mostly of ANC stalwarts, members and supporters — take to the street in support of Gordhan.
