AFROJAZZ artist Judith Sephuma sang in school choirs a lot when she was in high school, but it was her friends and other people around her who pushed her to pursue music as a career.Today she needs no introduction and can look back on a 10-year solo career.Her mother told her that she began to sing when she was two, Sephuma says. Relocating to Johannesburg from Polokwane at the age of 15 started her move towards a music career. Although at school Sephuma was not enthusiastic about leading any singing songs the teachers always pushed her to lead songs in assembly."I never used to just start a song on my own, I normally would wait until someone asked that I do," Sephuma says.After finishing matric she spent a year studying at the Fuba School of Dramatic and Visual Arts in Johannesburg and then went to the University of Cape Town, graduating in 1997 with a Performer’s Diploma in Jazz.
