Times are tough at ANC Kindergarten, the local political nursery school for problem children. As per usual, the kids, spoilt or overindulged, have been very, very naughty. Thus, their toys have been taken away. And we all know what that means — temper tantrums. Recently, the full spectrum of their outrage has been on display, from kicking and screaming to sulking and crying. They would throw their toys if they could; only they have broken most of them. The kids, as The Offspring put it, are not alright. Child psychology is a tricky business. These are fragile, unpolished dispositions one is working with. But a good place to start is trying to understand the type of tantrum, its cause and purpose, at least so far as the child is concerned.
