Scania recently held a customer day and also invited members of the media to this annual event, held at the Gerotek facility outside Tshwane. The event, attended by some of Scania’s fleet customers and drivers from countries such as SA, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Namibia, set out to showcase the user-friendliness of the vehicles, their efficiency and the various driver assistance systems. These systems include the company’s Fleet Management Portal, an online system that assesses driving styles, which can affect efficiency and, therefore, profitability. The recently upgraded portal has a new graphic interface that can be viewed on computers and smartphones. It aims to give users a quick overview of key factors for assessing fuel consumption, such as coasting, idling, speeding and driving with cruise control.
