A 1989 BENTLEY Continental convertible valued at between R2.2m and R2.9m, the only one in SA of 195 cars built of this elegant model, will be auctioned at Stephan Welz and Co in Johannesburg on April 21.For fans of Ferrari there will be something on the auction floor on a slightly smaller scale — 1:8 to be precise — three Amalgam hand-built models of the cars driven by the great Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher, each valued from R55,000 to R80,000.The highly collectible Bentley is metallic navy blue with magnolia leather interior, and has low mileage of 27,000km. The car, built between 1968 and 1989, includes "Bentley refinements such as matching cocktail cabinets in both the driver and passenger doors and mouton fitted sheepskin rugs", said Jack Rosewitz, car specialist of Stephan Welz & Co."This model represents one of the last original Bentley factory builds prior to the company being taken over, It’s a very desirable car that belongs in a museum or a classic car collection."Oth...
