Provided traditionally acceptable standards of decent behaviour are not challenged in sport, there is something irresistibly compelling when other, long-standing practices are challenged. Especially when they have been accepted and largely been unchallenged for decades.    

England’s new approach to Test cricket is a fine example. Captain Ben Stokes said before the recent series against New Zealand (and several more times during it) that he wanted his team to play the game in the “most entertaining way possible” and they certainly lived up to that.    ..
