Wits student protest leader Mcebo Dlamini really doesn’t know whether he’s Adam or Steve. On Friday he imagined for a moment he was vice-chancellor of the university and declared himself thus before an adoring crowd. A couple of years back Dlamini hit the headlines in the Wits publication Vuvuzela when he claimed to be the son of the late Zwelakhe Sisulu. He later recalled that his daddy was in fact Maxwell Sisulu. His birth, he said in the article, was "controversial". At the time Dlamini claimed to have been born in Mozambique and raised in Tanzania. Since then he might have changed his birthplace and name, so he could now be Mcebo Habib for all we know. He once claimed to be a fan of Adolf Hitler, whose Nazi regime executed students in Munich in the 1930s within days of their arrest for protesting against his rule.
