TENSIONS have been soaring at the Cape Bar after the body ordered one of its erstwhile members, advocate Chumani Giyose, to vacate his chambers by the end of next week or face legal action.The Cape Bar terminated Mr Giyose’s membership last April after he also failed to pay his Bar dues and rent, and to appear before it. He has appealed to the General Council of the Bar.Mr Giyose says he has been struggling to run his practice because of a crippling lack of work. But on Tuesday, he vowed to fight for his place at the Bar.Disgruntled advocates have resorted to protesting outside Parliament to draw the government’s attention to untransformed briefing patterns."The briefing patterns are yet to transform," said Mr Giyose."I am being evicted because I don’t have money. This means that if you don’t have money, you don’t belong to the boys’ club. If we approach transformation the right way, this shouldn’t be.
