Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson has been summoned by Parliament’s energy committee to present a forensic report into PetroSA’s failed Ikhwezi project which resulted in an impairment of R14.5bn for the state-owned gas-to-liquid company in 2014-15. The committee requested an independent forensic report about a year ago and last week instructed the department to present it on Tuesday. Instead a summary version was presented which committee chairman Fikile Majola said was unacceptable and he instructed director-general Thabane Zulu to come back in November with the minister and the full report. This is yet another tussle between the committee and the minister over access to documents.
