Mamelodi Sundowns departed in two groups for the Club World Cup on Monday and will take more than a day to get to Japan‚ leaving them to reassemble together on the training pitch again on Wednesday night. The first batch of squad members flew just after midday and the second are due to leave at 5.30pm‚ both headed to Hong Kong‚ from where they will transfer on Tuesday to Osaka. The first group will arrive at 3pm local time on Tuesday in Japan and the second lot at 10.30pm after a total flying time of almost 19 hours from OR Tambo International Airport. But at least they go in the comfort of business class‚ which is being paid for by Fifa. Sundowns have been split into two groups because of the lack of available seats.
