THE rand was trading in a weaker environment on Monday morning at the start of what will be a busy week for markets.At 8.30am, the rand was trading at R16.7494 against the dollar from a previous close of R16.8500.Against the euro the rand was at R18.2543 from R18.3475 previously, and R23.9040 against the pound from R24.0210.The euro was at $1.0899 from a previous close of $1.0926.Rand Merchant Bank analysts said the local currency would take its cue from global sentiment."Data risks come from China early in the week, from SA midweek and from global purchasing manager indices in the latter part of the week," the analysts said.On Tuesday, China will release growth data for the fourth quarter of 2015.On Wednesday, Statistics SA will release inflation data for December.
