The Johannesburg Zoo has put measures in place to ensure that no animals escape, following the collapse of its boundary wall in the flash floods on Wednesday. "We would like to allay any fears of animals escaping from the Zoo‚" Johannesburg City Parks spokesperson‚ Jenny Moodley said. "There is no concern or danger of predator animals escaping." Moodley added that the Zoo was now fully operational. On its Twitter page‚ the Zoo said it was attending to stressed animals. It had also played down fears that reptiles may have escaped. At least four people were confirmed to have died in the floods, and a search continued on Friday for three-year-old girl who was swept away in Alexandra. More wet weather was expected in Gauteng with a 60% chance of rain expected on Friday and Saturday. The South African Weather Service said it will monitor the situation and issue an alert if one is needed. TMG Digital
