The City of Johannesburg has earmarked three suburbs for improvements that will include matching cheaper housing to business opportunities and improved government services. The Balfour Park‚ Milpark and Wemmer Pan precincts have been identified as priority precincts in the Louis Botha‚ Empire-Perth and Turffontein development corridors. The go-ahead for development plans has been given‚ and will be driven by member of the mayoral committee (MMC) for development planning in Johannesburg‚ Funzela Ngobeni. "It’s our responsibility as a city to ensure that our poor residents‚ living in far-flung townships‚ have an opportunity to come and live closer to work opportunities‚ public transport and social amenities."
