Last month an article appeared claiming, sensationally, that in the space of three short years SA’s middle class had lost nearly 60% of its number to a swelling underclass.

The article, it turns out, was wrong. It had misquoted a recently released document from the University of Cape Town Liberty Institute of Strategic Marketing, which subsequently issued a clarification of sorts. But the original article, under the alarming title "SA’s Shrinking Tax Base Piles Pressure on Sars [the SA Revenue Service]", remains unchanged...
