On Saturday I eventually played in the SunCash invitational padel tournament in Cape Town, long delayed by rain. For those who don’t know, padel is a sport something like tennis, but also different in many ways, including being played inside glass walls.
I was a bit taken aback when I realised that, aside from political raconteur Rob Hersov, I was the oldest participant by at least two decades. I immediately hit the beers — despite a serious chiding from my partner, the King. ..
