I have never been sexually harrassed, assaulted or raped in my life. I have never once felt rage or shame or fear at a man’s unwanted attention foisted on an unwilling me. I have five very close friends (in my inner circle) who have been raped and I have witnessed the wounding – leaving different scars in each of them – from which they have never healed. My unscathed life is something that I have never really thought about until now. It is something that I am very grateful for.I have been shocked rigid by the number of women on my FaceBook timeline who have come out and announced that they had been raped, sexually assaulted or sexually harrassed. The #Metoo campaign, started after it emerged that once respected Hollywood film producer and film studio executive Harvey Weinstein had sexually harrassed and raped a slew of women – most of them young actresses entering the film world.
