There’s a constitutional court hearing this morning on the social grants fiasco but it might be too little too late
Cash Paymaster Services CEO Serge Belamant sure knows how to stick it to his opponents. As the Business Day lead today makes clear, not only has Belamant captured the executive, he has also probably captured the judiciary. But that’s white monopoly capital for you. There’s a constitutional court hearing this morning on the social grants fiasco but it might be too little too late for the lordships to intervene. Belamant is saying that only he gets the go-ahead to distribute the April 1 grants to 17m people today (like, right now, this minute).Belamant’s close collaborators in his subterfuge are those arch enemies of white monopoly capital — President Jacob Zuma, the great revolutionary; his social development minister, Bathabile Dlamini; and, because she has put her presidential campaign in the hands of said Bathabile Dlamini, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma — who must be wondering how (if) it will all end. Was Lily Gosam indeed correct when she wrote the other day that Zuma’s plan all along ...
