I have been accosted by readers of this column. Yes, this is a dangerous job. It turns out they worry about my marriage. They ask: "Where is your lovely wife? You haven’t eaten out with her lately!" Just when I open my mouth to answer they move on swiftly and ask me about the presidential spouse — the one who wields power that has diabolical consequences not just for me but for the country. That is Jacob Zuma’s fifth wife, Thobeka Madiba-Zuma, who last week described the Nkandla Crooner as her "everyday crush" and went on to post on social media that "things are going to get rough" in SA. Whatever could she mean? That things will be decidedly rough when the perks that come with taxpayers’ money run dry while your "everyday crush" attends court every day on charges of fraud, corruption, racketeering and selling the country to one family from Saxonwold, Johannesburg?
