Howard Schultz, who’s taking the compassionate businessman stance, says that similar to his company, he will lead the country with people as the priority
The man who made Pumpkin Spice Lattes a thing wants to be custodian of the nuclear codes. Yes, Howard Schultz, former CEO of Starbucks, is considering running for president as an independent. The broader reaction has been one of shock bordering on horror. An "independent" refers to a candidate who runs for office without aligning with one of the two major political parties — Democratic or Republican. Thirty seconds into his first campaign event last Monday, one attendee yelled: "Don’t help elect Trump, you egotistical billionaire arsehole!" Another one shouted: "Go back to Davos!" A taste, perhaps, of what a Schultz presidency might look like? Remember, he hasn’t officially entered the 2020 race, he’s just announced aspirations to run while promoting his new book, From the Ground Up: A Journey to Reimagine the Promise of America.
