Overachieving siblings can provide motivation, but they can also suck every whiff of the will to live out of a person. When your brother is winning all the prizes, captaining the rugby team and enjoying the attentions of half the cheerleading squad, it can be a little tough to summon up the energy to get up in the morning, as you are sure that your own modest achievements will look pretty pathetic when compared with those of the golden boy. PSG Konsult has occasionally suffered from being judged in the light of the stellar performance of stablemates Capitec and Curro. But instead of hanging round the bike sheds smoking Woodbines with the wrong crowd, it has resolutely gone about its business and has matured into an impressive operation.Its recent results didn’t shoot the lights out, but were a reflection of the resilience of the business model, in that the company managed to notch up 10% growth in recurring HEPS despite a business environment that’s looking so moribund it’s the sort...
