Joburg Water has warned that water throttling will be extended to all residents in order to meet the required 15% reduction on consumption.In a written reply to TMG Digital‚ communications manager Tidimalo Chuene also said throttling was different from shedding water."Water throttling is the reduction on the inflow of water into a supply area‚ whereas shedding is when the supply is completely closed and no flow goes into the area for certain time periods."All areas will be throttled to enable us to reduce our water demand by 15%‚" said Chuene.If water demand is not reduced in the system‚ things will get worse‚ she warned."Residents will experience low water pressure and if the supply area don’t assist and water not used sparingly‚ the high lying areas will have no water during peak times which is usually during the day."The City of Johannesburg announced this week that it will start introducing water throttling in areas which have high consumption.
