Nelson Mandela Foundation takes an uncharacteristic swipe at Jacob Zuma
The Nelson Mandela Foundation on Tuesday took a swipe at President Jacob Zuma‚ saying SA was "reaping the results of a political trend of personalising matters of state around a single individual leader". This came as protesters gathered outside the High Court in Pretoria‚ where Zuma’s lawyers attempted to halt the release of a public protector report into state capture. It also came a day after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) dropped what have been described as politically motivated fraud charges against Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan. Zuma had failed the constitutional test required of a head of state and the "wheels" were "coming off the vehicle of our state", the Foundation said in a statement on Tuesday. It has set aside its usual diplomatic stance and has taken a hardline on the issues facing SA.
