The column by Sikonathi Mantshantsha "When the masses take over" struck a really uncomfortable chord. The Russian Revolution of 1917 must come to mind when we consider the inequality chasm in our country. Those of us who are prosperous need to curb our conspicuous consumerism and share some of the benefits flowing from a good education and stable homes. There are a myriad ways to do this. One example is "fit for purpose" personal transport, instead of hugely expensive German leviathans and 4x4s. The measurable price difference saved could be given to finance a scholarship at university for someone who could not afford an education.
