Hats off to the retail investors and traders who picked up Sasol at the lows, while most of the professionals in the investment industry were too afraid to touch it.While it was trading at the lows, it was very hard to find any professional market participants willing to stick their necks out and recommend a buy — not while there was so much uncertainty surrounding the future of the company.Yet main street took the opportunity and has been richly rewarded for its opportunism. I, too, was one of those professionals who expected a rights offer around the R20 a share level, and was not brave enough to buy any stock. It is my loss.The good risk-reward opportunity in Sasol might be gone, though the share was retreating rather rapidly from its rally at the time of writing.
