Quantum Foods’ flighty share price and birds of prey
Feathers fly but will there be a coup in the coop, asks Anthony Clark
Quantum Foods is a fairly small agribusiness that specialises in animal feeds, contract poultry farming and eggs. It should — based on that yokel profile — be roundly ignored by the market. Yet Quantum finds itself at the centre of market intrigue, caught up in what seems to be a tumultuous takeover battle that has sent the share from the barn floor into the rafters.
Bizarrely, it’s not the first time Quantum has seen the feathers fly. In June 2020, an opportunistic approach for Quantum by unlisted poultry counter Country Bird Holdings (CBH) caused the share price to double. Now CBH is back, rattling the hatchery door...
