THE Congress of the People (Cope) has laid corruption and fraud charges against the controversial former chief operating officer of the SABC‚ Hlaudi Motsoeneng.COPE spokesman Dennis Bloem said that it had emerged during a presentation made by the SABC board to the Portfolio Committee in parliament on Wednesday that Motsoeneng had‚ sometime in 2013‚ "unlawfully and improperly disposed of key state assets‚ namely‚ the SABC archives to MultiChoice without the authorisation of an SABC board that had quorated"."Furthermore he signed off on the contract knowing full well that the right to do so was vested only in the CEO and not himself as the COO."He had also brushed aside the advice of Krish Naidoo‚ a practising lawyer serving as a board member‚ the party said."Mr Hlaudi Motsoeneng has therefore transgressed the provisions of the Broadcasting Act No 4 of 1999 and has caused serious loss to the state and the people by his unlawful conduct."Furthermore we aver that he received a commissio...
