Traditionally the SA winter is a quiet affair for the JSE because much of the daily lead is often directed by the northern hemisphere, which is now starting  its summer break.

So, the usual “Sell in May, go away, and come back on St Leger’s Day” might be the trend for the coming months. The J202 small cap index has been drifting lower since the start of May. ..
