In the ‘Instahood’ Camps Bay on Cape Town’s swish Atlantic Seaboard is by far the most Instagrammed suburb in SA, according to a survey by online real estate startup PropertyFox. The suburb’s popularity as a social media hot spot is not surprising, given its natural beauty, trendy eateries and proximity to some of SA’s best beaches. "One of the truest and most effective avenues into a consumer’s perception is through their social media engagements," says PropertyFox co-founder Crispin Inglis. "We wanted to build a picture of what the virtual neighbourhood — the ‘Instahood’ — looked like in SA." To do so, PropertyFox commissioned research group Metric to track Instagram activity across Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. Cape Town clocked up the most Instagrams, with nearly 90,000 postings last year (excluding those from foreign accounts). Johannesburg came second with about 31,000, and Durban third with 17,000.
